Changes

by Nikita La Femme

Many things happened in the past year that affected many people and kitties. Some events were good, some were bad, and some were horrible! But the change that affected me the most occurred in my own home.

I have always had an almost perfect life. I have a Meowmie that adores me, a brofur that protects me, and I am safe. I am allowed to sleep anywhere I want to, if I don't like my food, my Meowmie buys special food, just to please me, and I am never, never yelled at.

But, the change occurred!

My Meowmie returned from a trip near the end of July, and brought home a 7-week old puppy! Now we have other dogs, but they only come in the house for playtime in the evening, and they know darned well better than to bother me....but this puppy was brought into the house!! My house!

He was cute and fuzzy, and kept confined to a playpen, but my humans spent a lot of time taking him out, and bringing him in, and even holding him. He kept me awake shaking and squeaking toys, and whined when he was alone in the room, so Genghis or I had to stay with him and babysit. If I had wanted to babysit, I would have asked for a kitten.

As the months passed, he grew up some, but still acts like a puppy. He steals my toys, he whines because I won't let him lick me, and generally is a nuisance....and he's still in my house at night!!

He plays outside in the yard with the other dogs, and I think it's high time he moved out with them!

I think I have grown a little by this change. I know I've learned tolerance, because I haven't killed him, yet. And don't tell him, but I actually have learned to like the little fellow. And he has developed a few really nice cat-like qualities.

But, I can do without any more changes.
