Faerie Tale
by Twinkles
Fairytale By Twinkles Once upon a time there was a brave knight named Patches. A great kingdom called Felinnia sent out a request for Patches to come and save the kingdom from a great fire-breathing dragon that had been terrorizing the residents. If Patches could rid the kingdom of the dragon, the King promised to reward him with the hand of the lovely Princess Misty in marriage.Patches went to the caves where it was said that the fire-breathing dragon lived. He found Princess Misty was being held captive there by the dragon. He pulled out his sword and waved it at the dragon.
"Dragon!" Patches cried in a loud voice. "I challenge you! Let the Princess go! Come fight me!"
Then a strange thing happened. The dragon came forward, smiled, and replied: "I don't want to fight you. I just asked the Princess if she would come here and tell me a story. I'm lonely. Nobody likes me. They all think I'm going to breath fire on them and burn down the town. But to be honest with you, I don't want to destroy anything. I just want a friend."
The Princess spoke up. "It's true. He hasn't hurt me at all. He asked me to come to visit him and tell him a story so he could fall asleep. He was afraid. I'm only being a friend to him."
Patches looked at the two of them with surprise. He stood, thinking for a moment, then said, "Okay, I think you two should come to the castle with me and explain to the King. I see no reason to hurt you if you are peaceful."
Patches, The Princess, and The Dragon all went to the castle to bow before the King and his elves. They explained to the King that the Dragon was really a friendly, peaceful dragon. The King smiled and granted the Dragon citizenship in the kingdom.
"I will make a royal proclamation and post it in the town square. All citizens are to be kind to the dragon and allow him safe passage through our town. As long as he promises never to breath fire here and to always be kind to the citizens, he shall be welcome to remain here with us." The King declared.
"I promise!" The Dragon smiled, happily, raising a clawed foot up to indicate his promise. "Call me Stormy. That's my given name." He added.
"Welcome to Felinnia, Stormy!" The Princess grinned. "I knew there was a way to help you."
A proclamation notice was posted in the town square and on the castle gate by the King's elves. The Dragon had found a home and some friends at last. He would never be lonely again. As for Patches and the Princess, true to his word, the King gave The Princess' hand to Patches in marriage. They were wed in the castle in a beautiful ceremony. And they all lived happily ever after.
