There is a wonderful place called Port Aransas, also called Padre Island, that is one of the loveliest places to vacation in this area. It is along the Gulf of Mexico, very near Corpus Christi, Texas, and the beaches are so very nice. You can drive right up on the beach and pitch a tent, and spend the night if you are so inclined.

If you travel down the beach, you reach the Padre Island National Seashore. This is truly a purrfect vacation spot! Beautiful white beaches, unspoiled by man, and no commercialism. It is isolated, so at night you can see the stars shining brightly, and do some stargazing as well as beachcombing.

If you want more lively night life, Padre Island has many nice restaurants and clubs where you can sample some delicious seafood fresh from the Gulf, and relax after a hard day of vacationing. Fishing and crabbing is fun to do, and tasty too! Walking along the beach and watching the sun rise is one of the most relaxing things you can do, and gets the day off to a harmonious start.

Being in tune with nature is so easy at Padre Island. Feeding the gulls, watching and chasing the little sandpipers that dart to and fro, seeing fiddler crabs scurrying around, all of these things are at Padre Island and make it a very special vacation spot for South Texans. This is my favorite place to visit during those warm summer months, take a vacation there, and see if you don't agree!
