A True Story
by Nikita La Femme
The hero of this story is Hollis. He was a big, beautiful Maine Coon cat with a calm disposition, and a heart of gold.....and he was a Security Guard.Yes, that's correct! Hollis worked for a nationally known Security Agency, and helped guard an important industrial plant. He was even designated a Sergeant by the Guard Captain.
Hollis took his job seriously. He made clock rounds with the other Security Guards, pulled duty in the guard shack, checking incoming and outgoing vehicles, and helped in the training of new personnel.
He attended Security meetings, and knew the importance of good relations with the plant employees and supervisors. He joined in at coffee breaks, and even though he didn't care for coffee, he was always happy to share a doughnut with his friends.
He did his job efficiently and cheerfully for many years, but the long hours, bad weather, and advancing age eventually led him to think about retirement.
Hollis moved to the Retirement Home at Black Rock Ranch, and soon made friends with the senior catizens living there. He enjoyed the comfort and peacefuless there until he made his trip to the Rainbow Bridge.
He was a good friend, and I miss him very much.
