A Short Story About Plans
by Fraser
Miffy's human would make all sorts of plans. He'd say, "I'll finish
decorating the Christmas tree by tonight," or "Dinner'll be ready in ten
minutes," or even "Let's get another kitty!" But Miffy would knock over
the tree, eat the chicken, or get into a fight with every other cat she
encounters - and her human would sigh, rubbing his eyes.
One year, Miffy's
human decided to do something completely new for Christmas: they'll spend
the holidays in the tropics! When he told Miffy, she was mortified. "But
it's Christmas! We should be here, at home!" She protested loudly.
But
Miffy's human, being not too bright, mistook her meows for excitement and
went off happily to arrange everything.
Christmas came, and when it was
time for them to go, Miffy disappeared. Her human, suitcase in hand,
searched the house for hours and couldn't find her. After she was sure
they weren't going anywhere, Miffy came out of hiding. Her human was
frustrated, she was indignant, and it took a while for them to make up.
But they did. As Miffy purred in her human's lap, he sighed and rubbed his
eyes. Of course, he'd soon forget this lesson and start making plans
again. But for now, they're home, with eachother - like everyone should be
on Christmas.
