A Haunted House
by Twinkles
I am not a nervous sort of cat, although there are
things I don't like, such as the noisy vacuum thing,
and big d*gs, and such like. But they don't really
frighten me.
There is something frightening in my home though, I
think it may be haunted by cat ghosts.
Now you may say there is no such thing as ghosts, and
maybe your right too, but it is so very odd. I know
before I came to live here there were other cats who
owned my human, Wojo and Queek. She has mentioned
them to me often, as well as little things about them.
She says Queek used to like a particular type of
salmon cat food, and she buys it sometimes just
because she always used to buy it for Queek. But I
don't care for it, and will eat anything else rather
than eat it. I always have a choice of cat food put
out for me, and whatever I don't eat is simple thrown
away. Still, when that salmon cat food winds up on my
dish, it somehow gets ate, and NOT by me!! Now who
could have ate it if I didn't?
Then there is the subject of the stair bannister,
where apparently both Queek and Wojo liked to sit.
When I try to sit there, I seem to wind up falling to
the floor, and I am not a clumsy cat. I don't fall
off anything else, but I have learned to avoid that
bannister. If there are kitty ghosts here though, I
think it is Wojo who pushes me off, as gentle little
Queek was not an aggressive kitty.
One last place I won't go, is under the dining room
table. I walk right around it and never go
underneath, that is where both Wojo and Queek slept,
and perhaps, as my human thinks, it is just that some
faint scent of them remains there.
Perhaps though, since I can see further into the
spectrum with my cat eyes than she can, that I can see
more. Perhaps they still like to curl up there and
don't want me disturbing their rest. So I honour
their wishes and avoid that spot.
Still, though they may not want me taking over their
home completely, they seem to wish me well. One time
I got locked in the attic, and it was VERY hot up
there. My human looked all over for me and never
thought about the attic, she didn't think I could get
up there. Then she noticed something, a bit of grey
cat fur caught in the door of the closet that leads to
the attic. That was odd and it reminded her that she
had had the attic door open.
Quickly she went and opened the closet door and the
trap door that opens into the attic, She had been up
there a few hours earlier to put in some insulation so
she knew I had been stuck up there for several hours
before she found and rescued me. I wasn't harmed, just
frightened and a little thirsty.
Now, my fur is long and black. The fur caught in the
doorway was short and grey, Queek's fur, not mine. It
must have been there for over two years, since that is
when she went to the Rainbow Bridge.
I don't know how it came to be there, nor does my
human, nor what caused my human to notice it, but
perhaps Queek and Wojo watch over this household
still, and on dark windy nights, I prefer to stay
close to my human and avoid the dark places in a house
that may be haunted.
