What I Really Think of My Vet

By Mewsette

I've had a lot of vets in different places in my 16 years, and several where I live right now. They have ranged from pretty good to shockingly bad, but they do have one thing in common: they are not God. They are not infallible. I could sure tell some stories, but I won't.

The vet I have right now is the best! She's very knowledgeable about Feline Chronic Renal Failure, the first we found who is, and she works in a hospital. I liked her from the start, and my mom was sure relieved to find her. Not that I enjoy going to see her at all, mind you! I'd rather not, but I have to go pretty often; three times in a week just recently. That's entirely unreasonable! But this vet has sure gotten to know me well, and that's a big plus.

What I really think of her is, here is one vet who knows a lot, and really likes me and cares about me, too. She tries hard to take good care of me, and that is so important! It also helps a lot that she listens to my mom, who also knows some things, and makes my mom a full partner in my care. A good vet will explain about tests and drugs, etc., and give our moms credit for being able to understand. Because some determined moms are going to search high and low and find out anyway, so the vet might as well be thorough. My vet has a gentle touch, too, and really loves kitties; I can tell. We always can. I think I am real lucky to have her.
