Education is a Life-long Process

by Patches Jezabelle

Many kitties (and humans too) believe education is something that mew can only get from a school or university, but this is simply not true! LIFE itself is an education! Education begins as soon as we are born, and fur most of us, our first teacher is also our Mamma. She teaches us how to eat, how to use the litter pan, how to clean ourselves, how to play and hunt. Most importantly, we begin to learn the greatest lesson of them all -- how to LOVE.

As we became older and more independent, we had to learn how to get along with other kitties and often, other creatures as well. We also learned how to train our humans to properly care fur us and how to cater to our needs and desires. The ability to get along with others is one of the most important things we can learn, fur our lives will then be full of friends and family!

As an older kitty, mew would think that I would have learned all there is to know by now! Not a chance! As my body ages, I am learning how to adjust to these changes and I must find new ways of doing things. Fur example, when I was younger, I would chase the mouse, now I sit quietly and wait fur an unsuspecting mouse to run by and I catch him!

The hardest lesson fur us to learn is how to say good-bye. Although it is furry sad to have to say good-bye to a beloved family member or a friend, it is something that we must do. We learn that it is normal and healthy fur us to grieve, but we also learn that the best way to honor our loved ones' memories is to keep them forever in our hearts and to live in a manner that would make them proud.

It is never too late to learn! Efurry day I wake up and wonder, "what will I learn today?" and without fail, I learn something new efurry day. Education helps to make life fun and furry interesting. May mew always know the joy of learning!
