Night of the Screen

Tigress was an inside kitty, who was always wanting to go outside to play. She got to go out on supervised tours of the backyard, but she wanted to go out on her own, and check out all the neat things outdoors.

Casper was the boy kitty who lived across the street. He was an indoor-outdoor kitty and loved to visit the neighbors for some extra food and petting. He had seen Tigress sitting in the window, looking wistfully outside, and one night, Casper decided to take matters in hand. Late one summer night, he went over to Tigress's window and meowed to her.

Tigress came running over to see who it was, and they introduced themselves and decided they could be friends. They got to talking that night, and formulated a very neat plan!

Casper loved to meet new humans and make friends with them, it was a great way to get extra love and treats, and Tigress loved her home, but wanted to get outside for a bit to really do some serious exploring and hunting. As they sat, one inside and one outside, they began to put their plan into action.

The screen was attached by two very flimsy latches, and Tigress set to work to loosed those latches. She pawed and clawed at them, working them loose. Casper worked on pulling at the screen from the outside, and they worked in tandem, each wanting what the other had. Such persistence paid off, as the screen finally opened up! Hooray, they both meowed! Now, Tigress slipped outside to go and explore the great outdoors, and Casper slipped inside to go raid the food dish and then get some loving from Tigress's sleeping meowmie. Casper ate his fill, explored the house, and then found the nice soft bed with a sleeping meowmie. He hopped up on the bed and snuggled up to get some petting and loving.

In the meantime, Tigress was having a blast hunting moths, nibbling at grass and enjoying all the wonderful smells of a summer night. This was so much fun and what a clever plan they had come up with! She thought Casper was a very cool kitty, and what a great friend to have. The fun really started though, when Casper woke meowmie up wanting extra petting. His fur was a different texture and he was a bigger kitty, and a very surprised meowmie woke with a start when she realized this was not Tigress on the bed. She knew Casper from seeing him across the street, and she petted him, then began to call for Tigress. What in the world had happened here? How had Casper gotten inside? Where was Tigress? As a very confused meowmie stumbled around checking windows and doors to see how Casper got in, she discovered the screen that the two friends had opened.

Tigress must be outside! What a clever pair these two were! Tigress came running when called, happy from her adventures and with a big kitty grin! She and Casper just looked at meowmie, both with a Cheshire Cat expression on their face. Who could resist two such good friends! Treats for all and then it was back outside for Casper, and a quick repair to the screen latches.

Both Casper and Tigress would long remember their special adventure, where they became friends and were able to come up with such a great plan of action.

Meowmie had to smile, it was hard to get upset with two such smart kitties that had cemented a friendship one night through a screen.
