It was a dark and stormy night......

By SassyJazmine

It was a dark and stormy night...... well not really, but I always wanted to start a story that way. Actually it was a very warm and sunny day in Florida, and all the doors and windows were open. I decided to take a little stroll on the porch, all screened in and very safe for house-bound kitties like myself. Of course when you first get outside, the first thing on the agenda is to check each door and window to make sure everything is in order.

I made my rounds from window to window, checking on the birds and plants that I watch every day, making sure that Mr. Bunny isn't there to bother me. Finally, last but not least, I checked the door to the outside, the no-no door. I named it that because that I what I hear when I try to get near it.

The no-no door was ajar. It was open! I can go outside!!!! Yippeeee, and out I went, I paused on the steps to see all the new sights and sounds, and decided to peek around the corner when just then meowmie came out the no-no door. She didn't yell at me, but she did watch...... as I ran around the corner wondering what that strange green stuff was that was under my paws. Not very comfortable to walk on I thought, and then I ran right into a monster!

I jumped straight up in the air, then made a mad dash for the pine tree next to my sun porch that I had just escaped from. That monster turned slowly and glared at me with evil pink eyes, twitched its nose, and hopped off.....long floppy ears evily bobbing as it went.

But Meowmie came and scooped me up in her warm safe arms and carried me back to the sacred porch. I was scared I will admit to that. And the moster turned out to be the bunny that lives under the pine tree. But it did teach me a lesson. There is a reason they call it the no-no door ..... no-no, I don't ever want to go outside again. It is a jungle out there.
