Snow Days
by Kitty the Great
Oh how I anticipate the Snow Days! My family has this down to a science!!! The alarm goes off and meowmy wiggles her toes and I open one eye. If I see white outside, then I snuggle back in for a few more hours of toasty sleep in the waterbed, knowing that schools will be closed and the family will be home. I am working on the assumption that if schools are closed in my neighborhood, so is CLAW! Meowmy and I will be the first ones up, and we'll make some coffee and fill all the pet dishes -- mine first, of course! Then we'll build a fire in the fireplace and have a quiet little morning read beside the fire. Ohhhhhh I love it! Meowmy reads to me and I like that!
When the kids get up, they go out into the cold to play. They're CRAZY - but they're just kids - what do they know? While they do THAT, I curl up on meowmies feet - which are on top of her toasty foot massager - it jiggles my belly and feels funny, but I like it! This is while I let HER play on the computer! Because on a snow day, I don't play on my puter. Nope. Snow days are only meant for sleeping and snuggling and being lazzzzzy! Even meowmie knows this, and she spends more time reading on snow days than playing on the puter too!
By the time the kids come in, the sunspot will have moved on to the waterbed - then it's time for me to head upstairs and have another snoooooze while Meowm makes hot cocoa for the kids. This would be THEIR turn to warm toes by the fire. (because I'm not laying on the hearth rug!) Eventually though, they get all warm and one decides it's time to go crawl into MY waterbed! Hmphfh! How RUDE! Sometimes I go ahead and share the space with them, but usually I will mosey back downstairs for a little snack or something. Ultimately, I end up in the rocking chair by the fire. Sometimes I even share the chair with meowmy!
Purrr... purrr... purrrr...
